What exactly does RDP house stand for?
RDP stands for Reconstruction and Development Programme.
"Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) is a South African socio-economic policy implemented by the government of President Nelson Mandela in 1994. The programme oversaw many major advances in dealing with South Africa's most severe social problems: Housing. Clean running water. Sanitation."

Step 1
Start by confirming that you have the following documents:
A valid South African identify document including your partner or spouse's if you are a married person, a payslip if you are working (This is used as proof of income) and the certified copies of your children's birth certificates or ID's if they have one. All relevant documents must be attached to your application form.
Step 2
You won't be able to apply online so you will have to go to your local municipality or the Department of Humman Settlements and ask for an application form. If both these places are far from where you live, you can also go to your ward councillor or call the Department of Humman Settlement on 0800 146 873 and ask for the form.
Once you have finished filling up the form, the only thing left for you to do now is to submit it at your local municipality or at the Department of Humman Settlement.
